APSHO UpdatesBy
@Wendy Vogel MSN, FNP, AOCNP®, Executive Director
There are some exciting plans for APSHO this year, and I’m thrilled to update you on these. Take a look at some of the new programs we have, and don’t hesitate to get involved with something you’re passionate about. As always, thank you for being a part of APSHO!
Salary Negotiation SurveyAre you nervous about upcoming salary negotiations? Need some data for when you ask for that next raise? Wonder if your salary is comparable to your colleagues? This summer, APSHO will be launching its first-ever APSHO Compensation Survey. This comprehensive survey is open to APSHO members, and the resulting report will be a member benefit that reflects all of our advanced practice professions. We need your input: This is an easy and direct way to help both you and your colleagues get the financial data you need to negotiate the salary you deserve.
Fellowship DesignationHave you served in oncology and been an active part of APSHO for several years? You may be eligible for the APSHO Fellow of Advanced Practice in Oncology (FAPO) designation. This prestigious, lifetime designation recognizes advanced practitioners who consistently work to develop the field of oncology and hematology. It is APSHO’s highest honor that celebrates a life of service. View the application guidelines at
https://www.apsho.org/page/fapo.
Institutional Membership APSHO welcomed Levine Cancer Institute to our membership earlier this year. As an Institutional Member, Levine brought us about 100 new members! We will be adding almost 300 new members with OneOncology’s Institutional Membership this month and expect to add another well-known institution in early June. APSHO’s growth has been phenomenal, and we expect to be well over 3,000 members in June. If you work at an institution with more than 100 advanced practitioners, contact info@apsho.org to hear about all the benefits APSHO has to offer. If your practice is smaller, you can still qualify for a group membership at
https://www.apsho.org/general/custom.asp?page=GroupMembership.
MentoringAnother way to help your colleagues is to be a mentor. Check out APSHO’s Mentor Match, a user-friendly online platform. When you sign up for the mentoring program, you’ll get a community profile badge letting people know you are available and interested in being a mentor, and you’ll be matched with a mentee with similar interests and goals.
Whether it’s clinical or professional growth, like publications, public speaking, or navigating your particular EMR, this is a great program if you want to learn a new skill or desire to grow in a certain area, and is not limited to APs new to oncology. Learn more at
https://community.apsho.org/mentoring.
Seal of AcceptanceA new program that APSHO offers is the APSHO Seal of Acceptance. APSHO has a volunteer, multidisciplinary “Seal Team” that will review and critique pharmaceutical educational offerings (brochures, website, etc.) and award, if the submission meets robust criteria, the APSHO Seal of Acceptance. You can view and use the educational pieces that have received the Seal at
https://www.apsho.org/page/seal-of-acceptance. And let your pharmaceutical colleagues know about this! They can learn more at
https://www.apsho.org/page/APSHOSealofAcceptance.
It is such a wonderful and exciting time to be a member of APSHO. We understand the unique challenges in your practices and we want you to get the respect that your role deserves.
